How CNA workers’ comp claims work at UrgentMed

CNA is one of the largest commercial insurers in the United States and a long-standing workers’ compensation carrier for professional services, healthcare and manufacturing employers.

CNA writes the workers’ compensation policy itself, so the adjuster, the authorization and the DWC-25 all sit with CNA. If your employer uses a third-party administrator for CNA claims, tell the front desk the administrator’s name as well.

Walk in any day and tell the front desk it is a work injury. We contact your employer or the CNA adjuster for authorization while you are being seen, treat the injury at that visit with X-ray and lab on site, and send the DWC-25 and your work-status note to CNA and your employer the same day. Authorized care is billed to CNA — not to you.

Frequently asked questions

Does UrgentMed treat CNA workers’ compensation claims?

Yes. Employees whose claims are handled by CNA are seen at both clinics, and authorized care is billed to CNA — you do not pay for authorized treatment.

Does UrgentMed take CNA workers’ compensation?

Yes — CNA workers’ compensation is one of the CNA products we see at both clinics. Bring the card and a photo ID; benefits are verified at check-in and anything not covered is quoted before it is done.

Does CNA pay the clinic directly?

Yes. CNA writes the policy, so authorized treatment is billed to CNA and not to you. If your employer uses an administrator for CNA claims, tell the front desk that name too.

Do I need authorization before I come in?

Come in as soon as you can and tell the front desk it is a work injury; we contact your employer or the adjuster for authorization while you are being seen. Employers with a standing account are pre-authorized.

What does UrgentMed send to CNA?

A completed DWC-25 after every visit — diagnosis, treatment plan and work status — plus records, referral requests and authorization requests, sent the same day to the adjuster and employer contact on file.

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency — chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
