Yes. Walk in at Davie (5149 S University Drive) or Plantation (10199 Cleary Boulevard) without an appointment or a referral, and the X-ray is taken in the clinic when the provider determines an image is needed. Images are digital and read by the provider during your visit. If something needs a radiologist’s formal read or a further study, you are told that before you leave. X-rays are most often taken for:
- Suspected broken bones, twisted ankles and wrists, finger and toe injuries — see sprains, fractures and splinting.
- Chest X-ray for a persistent cough, chest congestion or suspected pneumonia.
- Injuries after a fall, sports injury, work injury or car accident.
- Swallowed or embedded foreign bodies where an image helps locate them.
- Pre-employment, immigration and OSHA surveillance exams that require a chest film.
Urgent care X-rays for children in Plantation and Davie
Children are X-rayed at both clinics, most often for a wrist, elbow or ankle after a fall. The exposure from a limb X-ray is very small — a fraction of the natural background radiation a person receives in a few days — and the technique is adjusted for a child’s size. Which X-rays we take: chest, ribs, spine, arms, legs, hands and feet
Both clinics take the everyday X-ray studies an injury or an illness calls for:
- Chest and ribs — a chest X-ray for a cough, chest congestion or suspected pneumonia, and rib films after a fall or a seatbelt injury.
- Arms and hands — shoulder, collarbone, elbow, forearm, wrist, hand and finger X-rays.
- Legs and feet — hip and pelvis, knee, lower leg, ankle, foot and toe X-rays.
- Neck and back — cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine X-rays, often after a car accident or a fall.
- Face, nose, sinuses and abdomen — facial and nasal bone X-rays after a blow to the face, sinus views, and an abdominal film when the provider needs one.
Which views are taken — and whether an image is needed at all — is the provider’s call at the visit.
Chest X-rays the same day — for pneumonia, a job or a school form
The chest X-ray is the film taken most often at both clinics, and it is done at the same walk-in visit:
- For symptoms — a cough that will not settle, chest congestion, fever with shortness of breath, or suspected pneumonia. The provider reads the film during the visit and treats you then; see sinus infections and bronchitis.
- After a positive TB skin or blood test — the chest X-ray that follows is taken here, the same day where it is indicated; see TB testing.
- For a job, a school or a program — employers, nursing and clinical programs and some licensing forms ask for a chest film; bring the form. See pre-employment physicals.
- For immigration — when the Form I-693 exam calls for one, the chest X-ray is taken on site.
Bring an X-ray order from your own doctor or employer
If your own doctor, a specialist or your employer has already ordered an X-ray, bring the order to either clinic as a walk-in. You can come in just for the X-ray: it is taken at that visit, and the images and the report are sent to the doctor or employer who ordered it. Coming in for an injury or an illness instead? The on-site laboratory
Common tests run in the clinic with results during the visit; others are sent to a reference laboratory and reviewed when they return. The specific test you need has its own page:

- Rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV and mono testing.
- Urinalysis for UTI, pregnancy (hCG) and STD testing.

Heart and lung testing on site
A 12-lead EKG is performed and read on site for symptoms, physicals and pre-operative clearance, and spirometry is available for lung-function questions and OSHA respirator clearance.
Imaging we do not have on site — CT, MRI and ultrasound
Neither clinic has a CT scanner, an MRI or ultrasound. Some findings need one: a head injury that needs a CT, a suspected ligament tear that needs an MRI, a possible blood clot that needs an ultrasound. When that is the case the provider says so at the visit, refers you to an imaging center or the emergency room as the urgency requires, and sends the records ahead. The X-ray taken here is often what decides that the further study is, or is not, needed.
