Urgent care that takes Florida Medicaid managed care

Florida Medicaid members are enrolled in a managed-care plan under Statewide Medicaid Managed Care, and the plan card names it. UrgentMed currently accepts Sunshine Health. If your card shows a different Medicaid plan, call before you come in — the front desk will tell you whether the visit can be billed to your plan or quoted as self-pay. Urgent care visits are covered; copays, when they apply, are set by the plan.

Military and VA programs

  • TRICARE — East Region (Humana Military); UrgentMed is in-network at both clinics; Prime members need no referral for urgent care.
  • CHAMPVA — for eligible spouses, survivors and dependents of disabled veterans.
  • VA Community Care urgent care — eligible veterans (enrolled in VA health care and seen by the VA or an in-network provider in the past 24 months) walk in with no referral; UrgentMed is in-network at both clinics.

Does UrgentMed take Medicaid?

Yes — Sunshine Health (Florida Medicaid managed care) at both clinics; bring your plan card, not only the gold Medicaid card. If your card shows a different Medicaid plan, call first and the front desk will tell you whether the visit can be billed to it.

Does UrgentMed accept TRICARE?

Yes — UrgentMed is in-network with TRICARE: TRICARE Prime, Select, Reserve Select and TRICARE For Life at both clinics. Prime members do not need a referral for urgent care.

Can veterans use their VA benefits here?

Yes. UrgentMed is in-network for VA Community Care urgent care at Davie and Plantation; enrolled veterans who have used VA care in the last 24 months walk in with no referral.

Is there a copay?

It depends on the plan: Original Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans have a set urgent care copay; Florida Medicaid plans usually have none; TRICARE and VA copays follow program rules. We tell you before you are seen.
