A low-testosterone evaluation at UrgentMed answers two questions properly: is your testosterone actually low, and if it is, why. Both matter, because many symptoms blamed on low T have other causes, and because treatment decisions should rest on confirmed laboratory results rather than on a single reading or a questionnaire.

Symptoms that prompt a low testosterone evaluation

  • Persistent fatigue or low energy; reduced motivation or low mood.
  • Reduced libido, or erectile difficulty (which has its own evaluation).
  • Loss of muscle mass or strength; increase in body fat.
  • Sleep changes, difficulty concentrating.

What the low testosterone evaluation includes

  • A confidential history: symptoms, duration, medications (including any prior hormone or supplement use), sleep, alcohol, and medical conditions.
  • A focused examination and vital signs.
  • Morning total testosterone, drawn on site — levels are highest in the morning, and guidelines call for testing then.
  • A repeat test on a separate morning when the first result is low, before any diagnosis is made.
  • Additional testing as the history directs: free testosterone, LH/FSH, prolactin, thyroid, blood count, metabolic panel, PSA where appropriate.

What happens with the results

Normal levels point the evaluation toward other causes — sleep, thyroid, mood, medication effects, metabolic health — and those are addressed. Confirmed low levels with symptoms open a discussion of treatment — testosterone replacement therapy, its benefits, risks and the monitoring it requires, and the alternatives when TRT is not appropriate, for example when fertility is a priority. Treatment, when it is prescribed, is started and monitored in person at the clinic.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the blood test have to be in the morning?

Testosterone follows a daily rhythm and peaks in the morning. Guidelines call for morning testing so that a low result reflects a real deficiency rather than the time of day.

Why a second test?

Single readings vary with sleep, illness and time of day. A confirmed low level on two separate mornings is the standard before diagnosing low testosterone.

Can I be treated at the first visit?

No. Treatment is decided after results are back and reviewed with you — usually at a follow-up visit.

Is the evaluation confidential?

Yes. It is a medical visit like any other, and records are released only with your authorization.

Do I need a referral?

No. Call to schedule or walk in and ask for a men’s health consultation.
