Florida is in the TRICARE East Region, administered by Humana Military; TRICARE Prime members can use urgent care without a referral, and TRICARE Select members can self-refer to any TRICARE-authorized provider. Your plan card shows the plan type (HMO, PPO, D-SNP) and the member-services number; urgent care visits are covered under all of them, but the copay differs by plan.

What an urgent care visit with TRICARE usually covers

Urgent care benefits typically cover same-day evaluation and treatment of illness and injury, in-clinic testing and imaging, and procedures such as stitches or splinting. Preventive services, physicals for work or school, and occupational testing are often billed differently, and the front desk will tell you when something is self-pay before it is done.

• Illnesses and injuries — fever, flu, strep, sinus and ear infections, UTIs, rashes, stomach bugs.
• Sprains, strains and fractures with digital X-ray on site.
• Cuts, lacerations and bites — stitches and wound care at the visit.
• Lab tests, EKG and flu, strep, COVID and RSV testing.
• Vaccines, TB tests and physicals (coverage for preventive and administrative visits varies by plan).

Before you come in

• Your TRICARE card and a photo ID — we scan both at check-in.
• Your copay, if your plan has one; the amount prints on most cards. Self-pay pricing is quoted before you are seen when a service is not covered.
• A list of current medications and your pharmacy — prescriptions go electronically to the pharmacy you choose.
• Check in online to hold your place, or walk in.

TRICARE members: bring your uniformed services ID or Common Access Card; Prime members do not need a referral for urgent care, and Select members can self-refer. Retirees with TRICARE For Life should also bring their Medicare card.
